昨今、食の世界で何かと話題に上ることの多い「スペイン料理」。エル・ブジに代表される世界最先端の料理が紹介される一方で、カウンターや立ち飲み主体のバルスタイルのお店も続々とオープン。そして「扉を開けた途端に全てスペイン」風の昔からのスペイン料理店も頑張っている。

「Quatro 4 Quattro」（クアトロ　クアットロ）のコンセプトは、「スペインの田舎町のレストラン」。店名のサブタイトルに「Comedor（＝食堂）」とあるとおり、「気軽に、ゲストの使い勝手に合わせて使ってもらいたい。」とのこと。なので、食事とワインをしっかり楽しめるのはもちろん、ワインメインでも大丈夫。そして値段はリーズナブル。随所にスペインをモチーフにしたオブジェが飾られているものの過度な装飾はなく、テーブル毎のペースでそれぞれの「スペイン気分」を楽しむことが出来る。

料理も、コンセプトに忠実。料理技術の披露に傾斜するのではない現代スペイン料理から、タパス、ハモンセラーノ、フィデウア（パスタを使ったパエリヤ）、オジャ（深鍋を使ったスープ料理）といった馴染み深いメニューまで、幅広く楽しむことが出来る。またオーナーの谷田部　茂也は、自らのスペイン、イタリアでの体験をベースにした夢（＝修善寺にオーベルジュオープン）を2006年9月に実現したばかり。そこには、自らの畑もあるという。その畑で採れた野菜を使った料理をはじめ、伊豆の海・山の幸を使った料理は、今後の期待大。「自らの畑のものを使った料理」という形も、コンセプトにぴったりである。

東横線「都立大学」の駅から徒歩で３分程度。車なら環七を越えて目黒通りからすぐ。いわゆる都心のお店ではないが、それもコンセプトの一部としてフィットしているように思える。渋谷、恵比寿あたりからちょっと足を延ばしてのんびりしたり、少し大人数で車で訪れて夜中まで飲んだり（運転手役は、可愛そう・・・）、近くの方は自転車でもOK。自分のペースで使えるスペイン料理のお店として、是非リストに加えて頂きたい。

People are paying increasingly more attention to Spanish cuisine recently. While gourmet journalists are talking about the cutting edge culinary innovations by Ferran Adria of El Bulli, there are down to earth 'bar' style outlets opening here in Tokyo where you can casually enjoy tapas with your favorite drink. In addition, there are still a few old style Spanish themed restaurants as well.

A country style restaurant, 'comedor' in Spanish, is the basic concept for this restaurant, Quatro 4 Quattro. They want you to casually have a good time at their restaurant. You can, of course, enjoy your dinner with wine, or you can simply drink wine with a light meal. Prices are very reasonable at Quatro 4 Quattro. The restaurant is moderately decorated with Spanish themed items. Those items ensure that you enjoy a pleasant 'comedor' atmosphere.

You can enjoy a wide range of Spanish cuisine including jamon serrano (dry cured ham), fideua (pasta paella), olla (stew) and, of course tapas. Having spent sometime in Spain and Italy, the owner of the restaurant, Shigeya Yatabe has recently opened his own European style inn in Shuzenji. He also has his own farm there. He sources vegetables from his own farm and seafood from nearby Izu peninsula.

Quatro 4 Quattro is located only a couple of minutes walk away from Toritsu Daigaku on the Toyoko line. If you are driving, it is located near Meguro Dori. It is not too far away from Shibuya or Ebisu, however it is not stereotypical restaurant located in fashionable areas of Tokyo. If you are living in the area, please consider yourself lucky.
